LGCI provides geotechnical services in New England States, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Jersey.

LGCI enjoys the agility and the responsiveness of a small company combined with a broad geotechnical expertise. We understand today’s clients' needs, and work hard to meet them. LGCI provides services for clients in both public and private sectors, including architects, engineers, contractors, developers, state agencies, private owners, and municipalities.

Abdelmadjid M. Lahlaf, Ph.D., P.E.

Principal Engineer

Madjid is the founder of LGCI. As the principal engineer and president of the company, he is involved with all aspects of the company operations. Madjid started his geotechnical career at GEI Consultants, Inc. in Winchester as a project engineer where he worked on several sections of the Central Artery Project, and other large projects in Boston, MA. He later joined PSI where he managed the New England Geotechnical Engineering Department and served as a principal consultant. He is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey. Madjid enjoys playing soccer and recently developed an interest in sailing.

Our History

LGCI was founded by Abdelmadjid M. Lahlaf, Ph.D., P.E. (Madjid). At the time he founded LGCI, Dr. Lahlaf had more than fifteen years of experience in geotechnical consulting.

Dr. Lahlaf started his geotechnical career at GEI Consultants, Inc. in Winchester as a project engineer where he worked on several sections of the Central Artery Project, and other large projects in Boston, MA. He later joined PSI where he managed the New England Geotechnical Engineering Department and served as a principal consultant. He is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey.

Dr. Lahlaf has worked on a variety of projects including foundations for low- and high-rise buildings, parking garages, industrial facilities, warehouses, hospitals, and bridges. His experience also includes geotechnical design of temporary excavation supports, slurry walls, and tiebacks; as well as pumping tests, construction dewatering, and dam inspections and rehabilitation. He has been involved with subsurface explorations, laboratory and field-testing, geotechnical instrumentation, analysis and design of deep foundations, seismic analyses, slope stability, and construction planning and estimating.

Dr. Lahlaf was on a team that won the 1997 Engineering Excellence Award of the American Consulting Engineers Council (ACEC).

Dr. Lahlaf is a member of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES). He was the chair of the Geo-Institute of BSCES in 2002/2003. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and he is currently the New England representative on the Sections and Branches Committee of the Geo-Institute.

Dr. Lahlaf served as an associate lecturer between 1987 and 2000 at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts where he taught Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering classes. He has published and presented many technical papers in professional journals and conferences.
